Classic Aireys beach shack sells after 64 bids

December 14, 2017 BY

A CLASSIC 1960s one-bedroom beach shack in the tightly held oceanside precinct of Aireys Inlet, just a short stroll from Sunnymeade Beach, achieved $90,000 above the reserve at auction last Saturday.

In front of around 50 onlookers, Great Ocean Properties Marty Maher took the first bid at $580,000 with two main bidders exchanging 64 bids until a Melbourne couple secured 31 Hopkins Street for $685,000.

“The couple from Melbourne plan to move to Aireys and are ecstatic to have secured this property located in such a picturesque environment,” Mr Maher said.

“There was a lot of interest for this property coming out of Melbourne with most of the 35 inspections coming from city-based buyers.

“With stock levels remaining very tight, this much loved 1969 classic beach shack was a great purchase in a very popular position with room to build a new dwelling on the front of the block.

“The owners are moving from Melbourne and will build a new house there in time, this result shows the continued strength of the Aireys Inlet property market.”
