Great crowds attended two Old Torquay properties auctioned by McCartney Real Estate over the weekend.

First to auction was 3 Short Street, which got underway with a crowd of more than 70 people in attendance with bidding kicked off on a genuine bid of $800,000 before being passed in and sold moments after the auction for $832,000 to John and Tracey Sanderson who are both from Sunbury.

They plan to lease the property initially before demolishing and building their retirement home in the next 1-2 years.

McCartney director Tim Carson said that the interest in the property had been good during the four-week auction campaign where they marketed it in the $830,000 to $850,000 range.

“The Vendor Naranda Watson was extremely pleased with the result and was selling the property on her late dad’s behalf,” Mr Carson said.

“Shortly after we also Auctioned 39 Munday Street in Old Torquay.

“This was only the second time this property had been put up for sale in 80 years.

“Again, the interest had been good with a crowd of more than 100 people attending to see the property passed in on a Vendors Bid of $2,350,000.”

This property is now listed for sale.
