Some 2600 customers will hire a safety harness to reduce risk and complete the task. Safety gear is essential and extra items such as glasses, gloves and hats can be purchased from your hardware store.

Kennards Hire say about 900 customers will hire a floor sander to make their timber shine, and keep the cost down. Close to 720 Aussies will opt for an outdoor pressure washer instead. And more than 950 customers will hire a shampoo cleaner to revitalise carpets rather than a costly replacement.

Kennards Hire say the best way to keep kids from being engulfed in pine when the Christmas tree goes to a new home is to hire a large trailer. Last year 5400 families agreed.

Mini loaders are must-have machinery for do-it-yourself landscapers and about 650 riders will spend the holiday season moving dirt and creating their dream garden. About 1460 (noisy) customers will hire a demolition hammer during summer to remove old tiling, plasterboard and brickwork.
