Inspiring homes, big ideas and local action
GEELONG Sustainability is thrilled to announce the return of Sustainable House Day 2025, a month-long celebration of innovation, inspiration and community action across Geelong, the Surf Coast and surrounding regions.
This year’s program features an exciting mix of open homes, seminars and special events designed to showcase practical solutions for sustainable living.

Open House Day
Open House Day will be held on Saturday, October 11 between 10am and 5pm.
Step inside some of the region’s most inspiring homes and gardens. From a certified Passivhaus and a modern hempcrete build to wildlife-friendly gardens and a thriving community village, this unique event offers visitors the chance to explore real-life examples of sustainable design and meet the people who brought them to life.

The Faster and Fairer Tour with Dr Saul Griffith
Inventor, engineer and author Dr Saul Griffith joins Geelong Sustainability on Thursday, October 16 between 6pm and 8.30pm at the Geelong West Town Hall to share his bold vision for a faster, fairer energy transition.
His talk will explore how electrification can cut emissions, lower household bills and build stronger communities, and the role each of us can play in this change.

This event is free, with donations to Rewiring Australia welcome.
Sustainability in Your Home Seminar
Learn from leaders in sustainable living, including Farm My School chief executive and co-founder James McLennan and MasterChef Australia alumni and real food advocate Mandy Hall, on Saturday, October 25 between 1.30pm and 3.30pm at Geelong Regional Library.
