The Armstrong Creek growth corridor has been a powerhouse of building and construction, creating thousands of jobs and providing housing for a vibrant new community, along with endless commercial opportunities.

As this area marches towards a population beyond 50,000, developers acknowledge that the key to sustainability of this growth corridor is the diversity of available housing stock.

Not everyone is looking for a large family home on a block, a large chunk of buyers in the market are looking for something more specific to their needs and lifestyle.

Developer Jinding understands this, so it’s great to see their start construction milestone has just been met, with work on their first 45 townhomes now under way, within its 164-townhome precinct in Armstrong Creek.

The townhomes at Jinding’s Harriott community have experienced a boost in sales activity since February when interest rates were cut, reporting one of the busiest transaction periods in almost 12 months.

Construction on civils will now commence, with local contractor Wellam appointed to complete the works.

The townhomes span two-, three- and four-bedroom configurations, with two-bedroom townhomes designed for first homebuyers starting at $524,900.

Buyers have been a mix of first homebuyers and downsizers, keen on low-maintenance and secure living, at an affordable price that will enable them to retain a nest egg for retirement.

Jinding Managing director of developments Dr Andrew Ashwood said construction commencement marked an exciting milestone for the community and future residents eager to move into their homes.

“In Victoria, we’re all aware of the ongoing pressure on housing supply, and the effect that is having on affordability.

“Townhomes offer an accessible entry point for many buyers, particularly the first homebuyer market who have struggled to get onto the property ladder.

“When paired with Harriott’s larger home sites and acreage lots, these townhomes help foster a truly diverse neighbourhood.

“This mix of housing supports a strong, connected community – and that’s what makes places like Harriott thrive.”

Harriott townhome purchaser Riley Redford, 26, of Wandana Heights, demonstrates the flexibility and appeal of townhomes.

He purchased a four-bedroom townhome in January and is converting one of the bedrooms into his dream walk-in robe.

“I currently have three wardrobes and I really need to consolidate, I figured I’d have to build my own house to get what I want, so the Harriott townhomes were an easy decision,” he said.

“I’ll be building a custom walk-in-robe when I move in, with a custom built-in bench in the middle and a bench seat under the window.

“It’s going to be incredible.

“I also have visions to create a laundry chute out of my pantry to make life even easier.”

Jinding has partnered with respected Victorian builder Nostra Homes to design and build its townhomes.

With 20 years’ experience in the market, Nostra’s design philosophy mirrors functionality with edge, with their design prioritising space for modern lifestyles.

The homes are located between Harkness Boulevard and Barwon Heads Road, and a two minute walk to The Village at Warralily, which features a Woolworths, Aldi and other stores.

Harriott is one of Armstrong Creek’s most successful new communities with approximately 90 per cent of land lots released to market to date now sold out.

Ultimately, Harriott will feature 464 homes and 164 townhomes, set alongside the Sparrovale Wetlands and among green space, including the completed Central Park, which offers a 670-metre fitness circuit, and a planned $2.3 million flagship elevated park and playground spanning 7,500sqm.
