Local Builder Hamlan celebrates 35 years

July 25, 2018 BY

Hamlan, Geelong’s biggest locally owned and operated builder, is celebrating 35 years of building homes across Geelong and the Surf Coast.

Hamlan started in Anglesea where it began rebuilding homes after the 1983 Ash Wednesday bushfires.

Now, the multi-award winning builder employs more than 50 permanent staff at its head office in Geelong and about 150 local subcontractors.

Its most recent award win was the 2018 Master Builders – South West Regional Awards Best Volume Builder Display Home over $500,000 for its ‘Sabine 344’ display.

“Hamlan has built itself an outstanding reputation for building functional, beautifully finished homes,” Hamlan general manager Andrew Carroll said.

“This is based on years of hard work and dedication to delivering the very best in design and construction.

“Our focus on architectural innovation is why we continue to win prestigious awards from the HIA (Housing Industry Association) and the MBA (Master Builders Association) and continue to be at the forefront of trends that are designed to suit our local landscapes and lifestyles.”

Hamlan builds a range of different homes, from cliff-top houses to family houses in new estates to custom builds.

Mr Carroll said staying local was an integral part of how Hamlan approached its work.

“Our team is local. We live and breathe the region and so everyone involved in each build has first-hand knowledge of the area,” he said.

“We’re also heavily involved in the community and are proud supporters of local groups, sporting clubs and charities including Geelong Mums, Anglesea and

Wye River Surf Life Saving Clubs, Geelong Community Foundation, G21, Committee for Geelong and Geelong Chamber of Commerce.

Mr Carroll said Hamlan never strayed away from its Great Ocean Road origins.

“When it comes to design and style, Hamlan draws inspiration from the Great Ocean Road and its surrounds,” he said.

Many of our designs are named after local landmarks.

“Our Aspect range has been named after waterways throughout the region from the Aire 212, named after the beautiful Aire River, through to the Erskine 210, named after the waterfall.

“All materials are also specifically chosen to reflect and complement the beautiful landscapes of this region.”

Mr Carroll said Hamlan’s personalised service was why local clients came back to them time and time again.

“We’re proud of the great rapport we form with clients throughout their build – and this relationship usually doesn’t end when they move into their new home,” he said.

“Our clients often refer our services to their friends and families and come back to us when they’re ready to build their next new home.”
