DESIGNED with modern Australian architecture in mind and to be as impressive as the environment it sits in, local builder Jason O’Neill has completed his first tiny home.

Months of construction went into the home, ensuring every detail was perfect and up to O’Neill’s high standards.

O’Neill said the vision from the outset was to create a compact home that felt connected to its landscape.

A builder for more than 35 years, O’Neill said the vision from the outset was to create a compact home that felt connected to its landscape.

“I pictured it as something that didn’t look out of place with a view, or it looked as good as the view and it sat there well,” he said.

The home is larger than most tiny homes and includes a full-size bathroom, comparable to that of a townhouse.

Measuring 9m x 2.4m, the home is larger than most tiny homes and includes a full-size bathroom, comparable to that of a townhouse, as well as a master bedroom and an additional lofted bedroom.

Light interiors, vaulted ceilings and ceiling fans enhance the space, while bi-fold doors allow the living area to open directly onto a deck.

“It’s been built by a registered builder as opposed to a backyard carpenter,” O’Neill said.

“It’s got bi-fold doors and windows so we can open them right up and build a deck off the main living area to make it

look bigger.”

The layout lends itself to a single parent, with the loft providing private space, or could suit someone downsizing who needs extra storage.

O’Neill said the home was designed to allow buyers to downsize without sacrificing comfort or finish.

“It’s quite luxurious for a tiny home. It’s got everything a normal home has got, but miniature. Everything was custom made – the cabinets were made by a proper cabinetmaker.

“It’s got reading lights by the bed, so if you just want to lay in bed, you can read your book; we’ve designed it with relaxation in mind.”
