Metricon shared some of the latest trends in interior design and its latest Lookbook themes recently at a styling masterclass held at their Fyansford displays.

LAST week, Metricon Homes shared contemporary design insights at a styling masterclass in its Vantage and Botanica display homes at Fyansford.

Guests from the Geelong region learnt how to style the family home, with tips and demonstrations from Metricon’s senior interior designer Jacinta Evans.

Ms Evans was joined by award-winning interior style blogger Emily Osmond, who was the evening’s MC.

Metricon shared some of the latest trends in interior design and its latest Lookbook themes.

“We were delighted to open up Metricon’s Fyansford homes to celebrate the festive season,” Ms Evans said.

“These beautiful homes provided the perfect backdrop to share home styling tips that guests can easily apply at home.”

The styling masterclass focussed on creating contemporary styling looks that won’t break the bank.

Ms Evans explained that planning is key to creating a cohesive look.

“Flipping through magazines and image databases online like Pinterest and Instagram is great for narrowing down the looks you love and defining your unique sense of style,” Ms Evans said.

“Once you’ve done this, creating a mood board, considering colours, textures, and finishes can be helpful in bringing an interior’s theme to life.

“One of the tricks to creating a designer look on a budget, is to invest in a handful of key pieces and then complement them with more affordable items.

“Retailers like Kmart and Target are now very up to date with design trends – you’ll find a lot of reasonably priced items from them that mimic high-end brands.”

Other tips from the evening included creating focal points in each room; considering height variations; selecting furniture with clean lines in neutral tones to minimise competing colours, and using patterns sparingly.

Guests were also reminded of the ‘less is more’ principle when it comes to interior styling.

“The positive feedback from guests on the evening was very encouraging,” Metricon’s Regional West Manager Simon Taylor said.

“Events like this help our customers develop greater confidence in planning the build of their new homes.”
