New Nova Park for Armstrong Mount Duneed kids

June 16, 2023 BY

Armstrong's proposed Nova Park, in the Nova precinct between Nectar Drive and Botanical Drive.

Children need play, just as they need food, warmth and care.

With more and more children facing physical and mental health problems, the time honoured activity of outside play is more important than ever, says developer Villawood Properties.

Play is a seriously fundamental part of childhood – children need places to run, jump, tumble, sweat and connect to natural elements.

They also need to run around in more natural settings and need to be able to play in dirt and be exposed to outdoor bacteria, which can improve their immune resistance and help avoid food allergies.

“Getting their heart rate up helps reduce the massive strain on the public health system caused by diseases such as asthma, allergies and obesity,” Villawood executive director Rory Costelloe said.

“Villawood knows the lure of iPads, online games, Xbox consoles, mobile phones and computers is strong.

“So Villawood designs and builds outdoor playgrounds, big and small, that are fun enough and challenging enough to draw kids away from potential digital dangers.

“At Armstrong, we have the fantastic Bunjil’s Nest adventure park which is a great favourite for residents and visitors from right across the Geelong and Surf Coast region.”

But there are others as well: Pencil Park, Aviation Drive playground, Harmony Park, Jurana Crescent Park and yet another coming soon, Nova Park, in the Nova precinct between Nectar Drive and Botanical Drive.

Armstrong Mount Duneed’s parks are popular not just with children but with parents and the whole family, who can pick the level of engagement they like: run with the children, try to keep up, or perhaps kick back and relax.

Picnics, outdoor parties and gatherings, community events, outdoor movie nights, Christmas parties, concerts, Cats footy workshops… the parks have hosted them all and there will be more to come.

Nova Park will be coming to Armstrong Mount Duneed later this year.
