Old school properties snapped up

This great old-world charmer at 3 Rocklea Drive, Torquay sold under the hammer for $710,000.

ONE Agency Shaun O’Callaghan topped off a great weekend with two properties selling at auction for above expectations in front of good-sized crowds.

Saturday morning’s auction of an older residence at 3 Rocklea Drive, Torquay, that had been in the same family for more 30 years, saw six bidders enter the auction after an opening bid of $600,000. Twenty-three bids pushed the price to $710,000, where the hammer fell to a young family who have had their hearts set on a seachange for some time.

Moving to the afternoon, a unique property at 190 Duffields Road, Jan Juc, that also fronts the Great Ocean Road and is a gateway site the proposed Spring Creek development, went to auction with a first bid of $900,000, with five bidders competing until the hammer fell at $1.18 million to a nearby landowner.
