Torquay townhomes showcase coastal interiors

June 5, 2019 BY

“IN VICTORIA, COASTAL MEANS DIFFERENT THINGS ACROSS THE SEASONS. IN WINTER, IT’S RUGGED SURF, WARM FIRES AND COSY SPACES. IN SUMMER, IT’S OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES, LOTS OF SUNSHINE AND GATHERINGS WITH FRIENDS.”

A new era in townhome living arrived in Torquay this May, with the first four Avant Townhomes open for inspection at QUAY2.

As part of the launch celebrations, respected interior designer Andrew Zunica showed prospective purchasers how to bring the coast into their homes this season.

“In Victoria, coastal means different things across the seasons. In winter, it’s rugged surf, warm fires and cosy spaces. In summer, it’s outdoor activities, lots of sunshine and gatherings with friends,” Andrew said.

“Selections need to consider this varied use of space, activity and socialisation.”

He says he loved working with the Avant Townhomes interior spaces at QUAY2, selecting natural materials and a neutral palette for a reminder that living near the sea should be about rest, relaxation and calm.

furnishing and decorating perspective; this is the easy part,” Andrew admitted.

“What’s not possible to change is the sense of scale, aspect and natural light once a home has been built. The Avant Townhomes are bathed in natural light and have really good connections to outdoor spaces, which for me are so important with a coastal home.”

A ground floor apartment at the Avant Townhomes display suite, known as The Whitehaven, has a lead-in price of $465k and houses the sales office.

Buyers can also walk upstairs to view the two-bedroom top floor apartment, named The Bellarine, which features a substantial deck leading to a rooftop terrace.

Next door, a two-bedroom property named The Swan features free-flowing open space over two floors.

The Lonsdale, a three-bedroom terrace-style townhome featuring additional storage areas, a private courtyard, and a skylight looking up to the roof-terrace above completes the offering and with an upgrade to the alfresco area available.

Each townhome comes with reverse cycle air conditioning in each bedroom and lounge, as well as double-glazing and photo-voltaic solar panels with battery storage options. Each has also been created to complement QUAY2’s environmentally-friendly focus, with thoughtfully-designed streetscapes, parks and even a community orchard within the broader development.

“Interior spaces should reflect the personalities of the people who inhabit them and respond to the surrounding location,” Andrew says.

“A coastal home offers the opportunity to create a space centred on rest, rejuvenation, relaxation, enjoyment and connectedness.”

Avant Townhomes offered at QUAY2 include three-bedroom, two-bathroom homes with double garages, as well as a selection of smaller townhomes – there’s an option for every lifestyle  and stage of life. Prices range from $465,000 to $672,000.
