Just over an hour from Melbourne, it has long been a favourite holiday spot for families, day-trippers and those drawn to the Bellarine Peninsula’s relaxed charm.
The town’s most recognisable landmark is the Point Lonsdale Lighthouse, which has guided ships through the notorious “Rip” — one of Australia’s most treacherous stretches of water — since 1902. Nearby Queenscliff, just a few minutes’ drive away, provides additional amenities and attractions, including the Searoad Ferry terminal linking the Bellarine with the Mornington Peninsula.
