AFL Barwon release 2024 GFNL fixture

AFL BARWON has today (Thursday, December 21) released the fixture for the 2024 Geelong Football Netball League.

Both football and netball Grand Final’s will be held on Friday, September 27, the day before the AFL decider.

Reigning senior football premiers Leopold will kick off their flag defense against Geelong West on April 13, a fortnight after the Bellarine Football Netball League begins its campaign.

Colac’s A Grade netball side will play Bell Park to start their pursuit of a three-peat.

The following week Colac will face Newton & Chilwell in a premiership rematch, following the Tigers’ dramatic one-point win in this year’s Grand Final.

Lara and Grovedale will contest the first of seven Sunday games throughout the season in Round 3 on April 28.

South Barwon will need to wait until Round 10 for their Grand Final rematch with 2023 premiers Leopold.

 

St Joseph’s will again face South Barwon in the marquee Anzac Day game at Herne Hill Reserve on Thursday, April 25.

A league bye will be held between Round 6 and Round 7 on May 25-26.

A split round will be held in Round 15 across August 3 and August 10.

South Barwon will have to wait until Round 10 (June 22) for its GFL Grand Final rematch with Leopold, who defeated the Swans 13.16 94 to 6.8.44 in last year’s decider at Memorial Park.

The GFNL finals series will kick off on September 7.
