Agnes Emma-Nnopu signs for Supercats

OCEAN Grove’s Agnes Emma-Nnopu has been signed by the Luina Bio Geelong Supercats for the coming Women’s NBL1 season.

Despite only being 18 years old, Emma-Nnopu has already developed an impressive resume.

She has represented Australia at various youth levels, including in the FIBA Under 19 Women Basketball World Cup earlier this year where Australia made the grand final.

She gave a particularly strong showing in the grand final against the United States, with 9 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks.

Emma-Nnopu started in basketball playing for the Bellarine Storm in the Victorian Junior Basketball League.

She then went on to win gold with the Country Victorian Under 18 girls team at the 2017 Australian Junior Championships.

In 2017 Emma-Nnopu also was selected to be part of Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence at the Australian Institute of Sport.

Soon after her first season with the Supercats, Emma-Nnopu will head to Stanford University in California to pursue her career further there.
