ANGLESEA will field its first ever junior girls cricket team in the Geelong Cricket Association the coming season.
The inaugural under-12 girls side will make history when they run out in the green and white at home against Wallington on Sunday, October 12.
Training started for the side last night (Thursday, October 2), with anticipation sky high among the group for a historic season ahead.
Anglesea women’s player Hannah Donoghue said it was fantastic to see so much interest in a junior girls team.

“Last year, our women’s won the premiership, and we hope it’s inspired girls to get involved in playing cricket,” she said.
“It’s incredible to have this opportunity available for local girls. There’s nothing like this. As far as Lorne and local clubs, it’s just boys. We are so happy!
“We just want them to enjoy it. We hope they have fun, which is the most important thing.”
The girls team will make their debut at 9am next weekend at Ellimatta Reserve.
