ARMSTRONG Creek have started their BPCA A1 Grade premiership defence with a strong home win over Drysdale as the 2025/26 season started at the weekend.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, the Titans posted 7/203 thanks to a half century from Benjamin Robinson. A four-wicket haul from skipper Daniel Maclean then saw them bowl the Hawks out for 163 and secure the win.

Fellow 2024 grand finalists Barwon Heads started their season with an impressive road win over Jan Juc. After the Sharks chose to bat, the Seagulls bowled them out for 108 before chasing the total in just under 25 overs. Jacko Mallett managed four wickets in the win.

Anglesea defended their total of 247 in a solid outing against Queenscliff. Sam Weight fell just short of a ton for the Roos, managing 98 from 70 balls. Four wickets from paceman Ben Harcombe saw them hold the away side to just 188 runs.

Barrabool have held off a valiant Inverleigh effort to defend their total of 130. The Kookaburras, who were promoted to A1 Grade this season, were four runs off an almighty victory before James Fisher delivered the blow to send them packing in the 33rd over.

In A2 Grade, St Leonards beat Surf Coast by a single run in a thriller, while Winchelsea chased down Ocean Grove’s total of 176 in the last over. Wallington cruised to a win over Collendina and Portarlington beat Newcomb.
