Bellarine Bears reach grand final
The Bellarine Bears defeated the East Geelong Saints on Saturday at Wallington Reserve to ensure a place in the Geelong Baseball Association grand final.
It was a tight game between the sides that had finished first and second, with Bellarine winning 3-0.
Cameron Brown’s first innings home-run meant Bellarine took the lead early.
Lachlan Hockey was then superb with his pitching for Bellarine. He struck out eight East Geelong players, and only gave up a single hit.
Hockey was also well supported reliever Pat Brackley, who closed out the final three innings, and the Bellarine fielders.
The grand final will be played on September 14.
Bellarine also played East Geelong in the A reserves, yet for a place in the elimination final rather than the qualifying final.
They defeated East Geelong 11-2, setting up a preliminary final with Ballarat this Saturday.
