Big Bash comes to Geelong
PEOPLE from Geelong and the Surf Coast were able to see the Big Bash League just up the road as the Melbourne Renegades came to their second home at GMHBA Stadium on Thursday last week.
The Geelong stadium was the site for the Renegades’ season opener, playing their first game since becoming champions of the 2018-19 BBL season in February.
The Renegades have played at GMHBA Stadium at various times over the past few seasons as they look to broaden their fan base.
Many of the spectators draped in red enjoyed the strong start for the Renegades, who made 5/169 off their 20 overs.
But the Sydney Thunders ended up taking victory with two balls to spare, finishing at 4/171.
The Renegades will return to Geelong on January 7 when they face the Perth Scorchers.
