Blitz Golf promises an action packed day for all ages
BLITZ Golf is expected to attract some of the best male and female golfing talent to Curlewis Golf Club tomorrow (Friday, January 4).
Described as the T20 of tournament golf, Blitz Golf is still a traditional stroke play event that’s played according to the rules of golf, but that is where the similarities end.
The success of Blitz Golf’s inaugural event at the Glenelg Golf Club in South Australia in April last year has seen rapid expansion, with Curlewis expected to attract some of the best golfing talents from the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia, as well as some of the best female players teeing off.
Already locked in for the event are some of Australia’s top PGA Pros, including Jack Wilson, Antonio Murdaca, David Bransdon, Matthew Millar, Stephanie Na, Max McCardle, Whitney Hillier and Stacey Peters.
The 40-player strong field is split into two pools and players compete over four individual rounds, but not the classic 18 holes per round.
Fast and furious, cuts are made to the starting pool after nine holes.
Round 2 is played over six holes before a further cut.
The top six players per pool then progress to an exciting three-hole third round.
After the three-hole sprint, the players have played all 18 holes on the golf course.
The final cut is then made with the top-two players from each pool now moving to round four, a sudden death playoff on the 18th hole.
Blitz Golf promises an action packed day for all ages – junior clinics, putting competitions and a spectacular PGA PRO Wedge Competition will keep everyone’s eyes on the ball in some form or fashion.
Central to this exciting new format which is so attractive to players and spectators alike is the carnival atmosphere.
There will be outdoor bars, food trucks, barbecues, a DJ and kids activities, including jumping castles, Putt ‘N Fun and face painting, not to mention fairy floss, popcorn and slushies to keep the whole family entertained throughout the day. Also, meet and mingle with the PGA pros.
The Round 1 shotgun start kicks off at 9.30am. Entry is free for the January 4 event.
