THE Geelong Cats have secured picks 16 and 37 in the AFLW draft following a mega six-team trade and the departure of midfielder Darcy Moloney.

On Friday last week, Geelong received pick 22 for Moloney before flipping the pick and some other selections to move up the draft order.

Moloney departs the Cats for Sydney following 46 games in the hoops during five seasons.

The 22-year-old averaged 13.5 disposals and close to three tackles a game during the 2024 AFLW season.

Geelong Cats assistant general manager Brett Johnson thanked Moloney for her time in the blue and white.

“Darcy is a quality person who has been a valuable member of our football program and we wish her all the best at the Swans,” he said.

“We acknowledged Darcy’s request for a fresh start in Sydney, and we have strengthened our draft hand as a result.

“This year’s draft pool is very talented and with the national draft only days away, we will now head in with picks nine, 16 and 37.”
