Cats handed first loss by Prahran

GEELONG have been handed their first loss of the Premier men’s Firsts season after Prahran chased down their total of 337 in day two of the clash on Saturday.

After a record-breaking seventh wicket partnership between Arjun Sehrawat and Eamonn Vines in day one, the Cats were unable to defend their score with the True Blues securing the win in the 78th over.

Prahran’s opener Cameron Hemp made 94 and set the tone for his side, before Lachlan Bangs finished off the work to finish the innings unbeaten on 95 and hitting a boundary for the the winning runs. Geelong skipper Joshua Larkin took two wickets.

The Cats’ Seconds backed up an impressive batting performance in day one with the ball, knocking Prahran all out for 180 to secure a dominant win. Oliver Haberfield and Zane Attard both took four wickets as they move to 2-1 on the season.

The Thirds defended their total of 286 and bowled the True Blues all out for 199 to remain undefeated on the season. Kyle Bienefelt and Sam Croft took three wickets apiece.

The Fourths went down to Prahran to move to 1-1 on the season.

Geelong now turn their attention to a home clash against Melbourne, who are yet to lose this season.

They successfully chased down Casey South Melbourne in their round

three win and finished day two on 7/346.

The Seconds, Thirds and Fourths will also take on Melbourne.
