WERRIBEE is off to the GDNL Grand Final next Saturday, September 10, following the Centrals’ 46-33 win over Winchelsea in yesterday’s (Saturday, September 3) Preliminary Final.

Werribee Centrals got out to an early 12-7 lead in the first and before the first half had acquired a double-digit advantage, 26-16.

Winchelsea would win the second half, but only by the slimmest of margins, ultimately coming up short to an impressive Werribee outfit.

Werribee’s Ellie Vincent led the Centrals in scoring with 29 on the day, backed up by Ellie Tubbs’ 17.

Caitlin Hendricksen, Natasha Dimkovski, and Vincent were massive contributors evident by their nominations as best-on court.

Winchelsea’s Katrina Filice amassed 21 goals on top of Melody Philpott’s 12. Meg and Connie Royal, as well as Margaret Webb winner Gemma Stavenuiter were named best on court for the Blues.

Premiers in 2018, Werribee Centrals are one win away from a fifth premiership in eight years.

Its opponents in East Geelong have never won a GDNL premiership at the A Grade level under the East Geelong moniker, and will look to break that drought less than a week from now.
