Christian College students make Vic swim team
A QUARTER of students from Christian College Geelong have made the grade for the Victorian state swimming team, which will compete at the Sport Australia Championships in July.
Last week, the college announced that Nicole Briscoe (Year 7), Madison Cooper (Year 8), Dylan Logan (Year 9) and Max Piroch (Year 11) had been selected. They are the only students from Geelong to make the team.
The college says it was a great outcome for the students, who have dedicated themselves to this sport for a number of years, and have all been achieving some excellent results at state, national and international championships over the past 12 months.
Madison has been selected to swim seven individual events in the 13/14 age group, along with Nicole in five events. Dylan has nine individual events in his age group, and Max will be competing in five events in the 17/18 age group.
On the back of fifth place in the 200-metre backstroke at the Australian Age Championships, Madison has been selected in Swimming Victoria’s Performance Squad, which is designed to enhance her swimming skills for future dtate and national representation.
Dylan recently competed at the South African Open National Swimming Championships, where he competed in nine individual events over the course of six days. He finished with two gold medals, six silver medals and one bronze medal, which is a brilliant result considering he was competing in an Open Age Championship.
The college community wishes the four students all the very best for the School Sport Australia Championships, which will be held in Hobart from July 25-31.
