A GEELONG cyclist has achieved her biggest competitive feat to date, earning selection in the Australian squad for the 2025 UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships.
Tahlia Clayton-Goodie is part of an 11-person squad who will represent the country next month in Ronse, Belgium.
The event will be her second in the green and gold following her successful road debut for the ARA Australian Cycling Team in Zurich, Switzerland in 2024.
She heads into the international event in top form having recently clinched two world cup gold medals in the C1 road race and time trial in Belgium.
Clayton-Goodie said she was looking forward to testing herself against the world’s best riders.
“I’m very excited to head over to Belgium to compete in the C1 this year… it will be my first time competing in that category on the world stage.
“I’m expecting a bigger field at this year’s world championships… there’s only two of us in Australia in C1, so it’s great to get overseas and compete against others.
“There’s some really good riders out there in the C1… It’ll be great to test myself and see how I go.”
She said achieving a medal and landing on the podium would be a dream come true.
“At the moment it’s bike every day and I’m also doing three days a week in the gym to get stronger,” she added.
“There’s eight weeks of preparation to go… I can’t wait to get over there and give it my best shot.”
