GEELONG Amateur have claimed the 2025 Senior Female Division 1 premiership, beating Grovedale on Sunday at Lara Recreation Reserve.

The Ammos got their revenge on the Tigers after losing to them in last year’s Grand Final, this time flipping the script to win by 14 points and secure their third flag in four years.

It was a neck and neck battle in the first half, with Grovedale leading at quarter time and Geelong Amateur jumping ahead by a single point at the main break.

The Ammos held the Tigers to a lone goal in the second half but put on 2.7 of their own to pull away and take the flag.

Midfielder Bella Hill was named best afield for Ammos in the victory. Danielle Sgarbi kicked two goals.

In the Division 2 Grand Final, South Barwon won the flag by a single straight kick over Geelong West.

Both sides finished equal-first on the ladder and played each other in the Qualifying Final a fortnight ago, where the Swans won by 25 points. This time, the Giants remained a lot closer and led at three-quarter time. However, the Swans put the foot down in the final quarter and prevailed in a thriller. South Barwon’s Elara Dillon was award the best afield medal.

Meanwhile, St Joseph’s defeated Torquay to win the under-18 premiership on Friday night. The Joeys held the Tigers goalless and put on four themselves to cruise to a 28-3 win. Alexandra Whatley was named best on ground in the victory.
