GEELONG’S Premier Women will look to complete an impressive season in the Firsts when they take on Melbourne in the grand final this weekend at Shepley Oval.

The Cats finished atop the ladder and will take on third-placed Melbourne in the premiership decider.

After knocking off Prahran in a qualifying final, Geelong have enjoyed a week’s rest and will be primed for the clash.

Meanwhile, Melbourne enter the match in fine form, having chased down Prahran with nine wickets in hand in the

preliminary final.

The two faced off twice during the home and away season, with the Cats prevailing in both instances thanks to strong

batting innings.

They will also have some fire in the belly for the match given they went down to Box Hill in last season’s grand final despite a first-place finish.

Geelong batter Mia Perrin will be one to watch in the clash, having scored 509 runs to date at an average of 42.

Skipper Stephanie Townsend will also prove crucial given her ability to strike with bat and ball. Townsend has made 364 runs and taken 14 wickets this season; both the second-most for her side.

The one-day clash will begin at 10.30am tomorrow (Saturday 14, March).
