GEELONG’S Bowls Premier League (BPL) side has revealed renowned Scottish lawn bowls world champion Paul Foster as the first signing for the new team.

The Geelong Jets, based at the Ocean Grove Bowling Club, are preparing for their inaugural season in the BPL, and Foster – a celebrated figure in the world of lawn bowls – will bring an impressive track record.

A 13-time World Indoor champion and four-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist, Foster’s exceptional skill and competitive spirit have made him a formidable opponent on the international stage.

The Geelong Jets say Foster’s signing demonstrates the team’s commitment to excellence and its ambition to make a strong impact in the BPL, the sport’s showpiece television and spectator event in Australia.

BPL20 begins in November.

“I am honoured to be part of the Geelong Jets and to compete in the BPL, I have been wanting to be a part of this prestigious event for some time and now get the opportunity to contribute to the Geelong Jets’ success,” Foster said.

“I look forward to bringing my experience to the table as we aim for great achievements together.”

The Geelong Jets announced Foster’s signing today (Saturday, June 29).

“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Paul Foster to the Geelong Jets,” Ocean Grove Bowling Club general manager of bowls development Matt Flapper said.

“Paul’s expertise and achievements in lawn bowls are unparalleled, and his presence in our team will undoubtedly elevate our performance.

“We are confident that his leadership and experience will inspire and motivate our players as we commence our BPL experience.

“Paul is one of the best, we can’t wait to see him in action for the Jets.”
