Geelong Junior Marlins growing in strength and numbers

October 25, 2018 BY

The Geelong Marlins Water Polo Club are hosting a round of the Victorian Junior Championships at Kardinia Aquatic Centre on Sunday November 18.

AFTER two successful junior come try/play clinics, the mixed under 12s junior Marlins water polo team has formed.

The team recently competed at the Ballarat Junior Tournament, with the Geelong Blue team making it to the bronze medal play-off, just missing out 4-2.

Before this weekend, most had never seen or played water polo.

The competitors have now formed two mixed under 12 teams to compete in the Victorian Junior Championships in Melbourne, along with several entering in the primary school competition held in November. They are the youngest and only regional team competing in both championships.

The Geelong Junior Marlins’ wishlist and aim is to develop and give more children access to junior water polo across the Surf Coast, Geelong, Bellarine and surrounding areas.

The Geelong Marlins Water Polo Club are hosting a round of the Victorian Junior Championships at Kardinia Aquatic Centre on Sunday November 18 from 9.30am and 5pm. There will be up to 30 under 12 and 14s teams competing.

Anyone wanting interested in playing or giving junior polo a try can call the head coach on 0404 173 953 or head to the Geelong junior Marlins Facebook or website pages.

The junior teams are also looking for sponsors.
