OCEAN Grove’s pursuit of a three-peat of A Grade netball flags has received a huge boost, with six of its top players committing for next season.

Star goaler Zanna Woods, captain Emily Moroney, mid-courter Georgia Ryan, Courtney Leith, Arlee Bennett and Mia Smith have all inked new deals.

The re-signing of the club’s ‘core’ local players was an important item on the 2025 wish list for A Grade coach Mel Holmes.

“A high percentage returning is incredible,” Holmes said.

“We are so excited to build on the success of the past two years and hopefully go for three in a row in 2025.”

The Grubbers have also secured the signature of eight-time GDFNL premiership-winning goalkeeper Amanda O’Malley.

The former Werribee Centrals star was the 2023 Margaret Webb medallist (GDNFL league best and fairest), an eight-time team of the year member, and was recently inducted into her former club’s hall of fame.

O’Malley has made a sea change to Ocean Grove in recent months with her family.

“She’s won everything there is to win,” Holmes said.

“Amanda is a quality player who has really forged a successful career over at Werribee.

“Fortunately for us, she’s relocated to the area and has some connections here at the club.

“We can’t wait to have her part of this community.”

The club also plans on recruiting for a few other positions.

It has lost Rhiannon Whitson, who has moved to Melbourne, while star goaler Rebecca O’Neill will be coaching the club’s B Grade side and has not committed to playing at this stage.

“We’ve got the core group, and we will be looking to recruit the right people who suit our vision,” Holmes said.

“We are excited for what next year holds.”
