A 91-RUN effort from opener Lewis Hyland has seen Barwon Heads begin their Round 6 BPCA1 clash with Jan Juc in dominant fashion.

At stumps of the two-day matchup, the undefeated Heads finished at 9/291 from 75 overs and will send the Sharks in to chase their total down on day two.

Elijah Falconer took three wickets for Jan Juc and Jordan Graham took two, but their efforts were not enough to prevent the large score after 75 overs.

Anglesea bowled Queenscliff out for 175 in the final over of the day to set their target score for day two. Skipper Hayden Illingworth top scored for the home side with 43.

The bowling attack from the Roos was evenly spread, with Ben Harcombe, Dylan Taylor and Ky Eskrigge all taking two wickets.

Armstrong Creek toppled Drysdale for 171 in the 64th over thanks to a four-wicket haul from Jack Maclean.

When play recstarts, the Titans will start at 1/14 after finishing day one with eight overs of their innings. The Hawks bowling lineup will need to fire if they are to defend their total and seek their third win of the season.

Inverleigh were bowled out by Barrabool for a formidable total of 200 on day one, after Lachlan Platt made an impressive 103 runs.

With Bulls opener David Grigg out for a duck in the three overs played of their innings, the middle order will be relied on if they are to secure just their second win this season.

In the BPCA2, Surf Coast will chase St Leonards’ score of 299, Winchelsea will chase down Ocean Grove’s 264, while Collendina will chase down Wallington’s 226. Portarlington may seek an outright win after chasing down Newcomb’s 107 and getting out to a 68-run lead.
