GEELONG Cats utility Max Holmes has claimed his first Carji Greeves Medal, the club’s top individual honour.

Holmes polled 164 votes at the ceremony on Thursday last week to finish well clear of defender Zach Guthrie (120) and Jeremy Cameron (118), who rounded out the top three.

Tom Stewart (117) and Tyson Stengle (107) completed the top five placings.

The 22-year-old in Holmes played every game in 2024, polling votes in 22 of his games.

He was adjudged the Cats best player by the coaches in six of those matches.

Holmes averaged 24.2 disposals per game this season, leading the Cats in disposals, inside 50’s and effective disposals.

Splitting his time across half-back and in the midfield in 2024, Holmes earned a spot in the 44-man All Australian squad for the first time.

Guthrie capped off a fantastic year on field with a runner-up finish in the club’s best and fairest.

The versatile half-back played all 25 games this season and became a key pillar and interceptor for the team.

The Cats this year rewarded Guthrie with a three-year extension, keeping him at the Cattery until 2028.

Cameron, who won the Carji in 2022, rounded out the podium with another stellar season in the hoops.

He kicked 64 goals in 2024, finishing second in the Coleman Medal and earning himself a fourth All Australian blazer.

Tom Atkins and retiring legend Tom Hawkins were selected by their peers as joint winners of the Tom Harley Best Club Person Award, while Ollie Dempsey received Best Young Player.

Hawkins was also named the Carter Family Community Champion for his outstanding commitment to the community.
