Newtown & Chilwell, who secured the minor premiership after dropping just one game in yet another dominant season, have the weekend off to await the results of the Qualifying Final.
Second-placed St Joseph’s will take on third-placed South Barwon in the Qualifying Final, with the winner to face the Eagles and the loser to face the winner of the elimination final.
Joeys only lost two games for the season, with one of them coming against the Swans when they most recently faced off in Round 8. Scores were level at half time and South Barwon led by just four at three-quarter time, but they pulled away in the final quarter to prevail by 11 points.
Both sides enter the matchup on three-game winning streaks.
Meanwhile, fourth-placed Geelong West will take on fifth-placed St Mary’s on home soil in the Elimination Final.
The Saints scraped into fifth despite a three-game losing streak to finish the home and away season, while the Giants have won five of their past six.
The two faced off a fortnight ago, where Geelong West led all day and won by 16 points. However, St Mary’s annihilated the Giants in Round 1, winning 38-0.
