ST JOSEPH’S and Colac will face off for the first spot in the GFL Grand Final tomorrow (Saturday, September 13) at West Oval.

Joeys were given a weekend to rest after securing the minor premiership, while the Tigers toppled Newtown & Chilwell in the first qualifying final to set up the mouthwatering clash.

Colac’s experience stood out in their 49-point victory over the Eagles, leading at every break by at least two goals. A four goal to none third quarter ultimately set up the win.

The Tigers and Joeys have not faced off since Round 13, where the former piled on nine scoring shots to two in the last quarter at Central Reserve to win by two goals.

When they clashed at Herne Hill Reserve in Round 5, however, it was the Joeys who led all day to prevail by 43.

Meanwhile, the Eagles will face St Mary’s in a do-or-die clash this Sunday, September 14, with the winner to take on the loser of tomorrow’s game.

The Saints secured an almighty elimination final win over Bell Park in a day where all but one goal was scored on one side of the ground thanks to strong winds.

The Dragons had the wind advantage heading into the last quarter, but a Paddy Dowling goal the other way made the 23-point three quarter time margin enough for St Mary’s to hang on.

Newtown & Chilwell have beaten every GFL side except the Saints at some point this year, and will get their second crack in three weeks to flip the script and stay alive in the premiership hunt.
