SOME of the best kiteboarders in the country will head to Point Danger tomorrow (Friday, February 21) for the 2020 Kiteboarding Australia Wave Nationals.

Having previously been held in Torquay in December of 2018, the four-day event has now been rescheduled to take place during the region’s windiest month of the year.

Kiteboarding Australia general manager Declan McCarthy said he was looking forward to the event returning to Torquay and expected good conditions for the event.

“We’re quite excited to be coming back to Torquay to run the event this year and next year as well.

“Torquay just generally receives quite good waves, as well as it being windy season, and Point Danger is a very good location to be able to host the event.”

In addition to the Open competition, there are separate categories for Juniors (under 18) and Masters (35 and over).

Competitors are coming from all across the country.

On Saturday night, the community is also invited to join competitors and race organisers at 4 Pines X Torquay Boardriders.

Surfing will begin on each day at 11.30am, depending on the wind.
