Lakers unveil new uniform designs
THE Leopold Lakers Basketball Club has unveiled designs for a new playing jersey to be worn from next season onwards.
Lakers president Jayson Newman said the new uniforms were a major part of propelling the club forward.
“Designed to acknowledge and celebrate our 30-year heritage, along with a nod to our place within the Leopold sporting community,” Newman said.
“67 per cent of respondents to our survey supported this design, and with some minor tweaks, we are moving forward with this bold initiative.”
Newman said the new uniforms would redefine the club’s look and would feature the Lakers’ revised logo and vibrant colours on a “modern fit” jersey.
“These uniforms will ensure that everyone feels confident, active and ready to play.
The new uniforms are not just about functionality; they are designed with aesthetics in mind.”
The uniform’s main features include a silhouette of the You Yangs from the viewpoint of Leopold residents.
The reversible design also provides value to families, allowing two uniforms to be sewn into one and ensuring uniform clashes with other clubs are avoided.
“Our committee has worked with our uniform supplier to create a look that also reflects our club values,” Newman said.
“We believe these uniforms will enhance club spirit and foster a sense of unity.
The new uniforms will be manufactured this month and will be delivered to the club in September.
Leopold will distribute the uniforms to its teams before the commencement of the Summer 2024/25 season (beginning on October 7).
