A NEWTOWN & Chilwell junior headlines a 28-man squad selected in the 2025 Marsh AFL National Academy.

17-year-old rebounding defender Josh Lindsay will join players from across the country in their pursuit of earning an AFL list spot this time next year.

Lindsay enters the program in fantastic form, having been awarded the best player medal for Team Heppell in the 2024 Marsh AFL Futures match in September.

The 17-year-old had 20 disposals, seven marks and three rebound 50s to clinch the top honour in what was the curtain-raiser to the 2024 AFL Grand Final.

Lindsay played for Victoria Country in the U/16 age group last season and made seven appearances for the Geelong Falcons in 2024.

His Falcons team-mate and Colac Tigers player Ben Rongdit has also been selected in the squad.

Rongdit only managed one game during the 2024 season due to injury.

The defender is a Geelong academy prospect and is eligible for next generation selection by the club.

The Marsh AFL National Academy will provide both players with a holistic program combining football and personal development.

A high-performance camp will be held in Melbourne next month.

Two other camps will be held during 2025 including talent showcase matches, where the Academy squads will represent their country as the Australia U18 team.
