THE Surf Coast and Bellarine’s top tradies will swap their tools for surfboards and compete in a fun and relaxed competition at URBNSURF Melbourne.

The TAC Tradies Challenge will be held on October 12 and bring together more than 40 of the state’s best tradesmen and women.

The fun and relaxed event will comprise of three divisions: open, over-35 and bodyboard.

Surfing Victoria chief executive officer Adam Robertson said the event was the perfect way for tradies to connect over waves rather than work.

“The TAC Tradies Challenge is a fantastic event bringing together tradies from across the state.

“We know that there are a lot of surfing tradies out there across the state and this is a great way for them to catch up and get involved in a fun day of waves at URBNSURF.”

TAC head of community, Jacqui Sampson, said the TAC’s partnership with Surfing Victoria provided opportunities to engage directly with priority audiences on important road safety issues.

“We know that tradies who surf use the roads a lot, for work and leisure, so this fun and exciting event is a great opportunity for the TAC to connect directly with participants — particularly young tradespeople.

“Our partnership with Surfing Victoria is an example of how the TAC is continuing to find ways to show up differently in the community and work with Victorians on keeping our roads safe.”

In addition to their competition heats, all competitors will receive free surfing time in the URBNSURF lagoon.
