Nominations open for Australian Surfing Awards

NOMINATIONS are now open for the 2024 Australian Surfing Awards incorporating the Hall of Fame.

The 60th anniversary of the prestigious event will be hosted at the Bondi Pavilion at Bondi Beach next month on February 28, 2024.

Nineteen awards will be presented to both individuals and groups who have made significant and enduring contributions to the development of surfing in Australia.

Victoria lays claim to many past winners at the awards including Adam Robertson (2020 Coach of the Year), Ted Grambeau (2021 Photo of the Year) and Willis Droomer (2022 Rising Star).

Surfing Victoria’s Victorian Indigenous Surfing Program was awarded the Indigenous Surfing – Community Celebration Award in 2022.

The prestigious event will be held at the Bondi Pavilion in Bondi Beach on February 28.

 

 

This year, Surfing Australia is introducing a host of new category titles to the gala night, including Emerging Surf Brand Award, Surf Film of the Year – Filmer Award and the Surf Clip of the Year Award- Surfer Athlete.

The Rising Star Awards have also changed in structure and will honour the legacies of two of Australia’s greatest world champions and be named after Mick Fanning and Stephanie Gilmore.

Surfing Australia chief of sport Luke Madden encouraged the surf community to get their entries in.We’re excited to add new awards to this event and have Mick Fanning. and Stephanie Gilmore on board again supporting surfing’s junior talent,” he said.

“We can’t wait to see Australia’s best surfers, surf schools and clubs as well as community groups, businesses and creators showcase their outstanding work over the past year and being rewarded for their efforts.”
