North Geelong storm to sixth straight First XI flag

NORTH Geelong are kings of the crease again, winning their sixth straight GCA 1 1st XI premiership in fine fashion.

The Magpies defeated Newtown & Chilwell in a blowout at South Barwon Reserve at the weekend.

North Geelong won the toss and elected to bat first on Saturday, smashing out a huge 343 runs across 110 overs on Saturday.

Alistair McCann starred with bat in hand, making 127 runs, including seven fours and three sixes.

Dale Kerr whacked 57, while Tom Mathieson was 38 not out.

Noah Guida and Dylan Hodge both took three wickets for Newtown & Chilwell.

North Geelong then steamrolled through their opponents for 80 runs on Sunday.

Captain Tom Mathieson took a whopping six wickets off just 14 overs, backed up by Dale Kerr’s three wickets.

McCann was named man of the match.
