Ocean Grove team bowls up a winner

The Ocean Grove Probus Club team took out the annual Tuckers Funeral harry Kirkland Shield Bowls competition recently held at Werribee.

The team of Jim Rogan, Bill Ryan, Bryan Olson and skipper Barry hoar representing Ocean Grove showed their skills by winning the bowls tournament with 41 shots up, five shots ahead of the runners up team of Werribee skipped by Jim Rayner.

The annual event has been a feature of the Werribee Probus club for the last 22 years.

It hosted 18 representative teams of visitors from the Bellarine area, Colac and Maryborough, as well as several teams from local clubs.

It was Ocean Grove’s first win since 2009 when a team skipped by G Joseph took the shield back to their club.
