The goal keeper has featured in the Grubbers’ best in all three of her appearances, including a best on court performance against finals-fancy Queenscliff last weekend.
Coach Mel Holmes said the former Werribee Centrals netballer had brought plenty of premiership-winning experience to the line-up.
“Having her presence on court, her leadership and voice has had a huge impact on the group, she’s just slotted in really nicely.”
Chasing a three-peat, the undefeated Grubbers started their season with a bang before two tight matches in the past fortnight.
Holmes was happy to see them hold off a fast-finishing Coutas outfit 45-41 ahead of their 1.45pm clash with Barwon Heads at home tomorrow (Saturday, May 10) in round 6.
The Seagulls, who are eighth on the ladder, scored their first win of the year with a 49-38 triumph against Anglesea in round 5.
Holmes was asked about the strengths of her team as the league benchmark.
“We’ve got experience, versatility and a really cohesive, tight-knit group,” she said.
“When any athlete is happy and wants to play, they play for each other.
“I think for us that’s the secret to success, the girls are wanting to be there and win for each other.”
The top-three battle between Queenscliff and the unbeaten Geelong Amateur shapes as the match of the round.
