TWO Geelong cricketers will line up for Victoria Country as part of the U/19 male emerging players squad at the National Championships in December.

Left-handed batsman Ollie Peake and right arm off spin specialist Zane Attard have both been selected in Cricket Victoria’s 19-man squad.

The squads will be mentored by former first-class player and experienced Dandenong and Geelong Premier Coach, Nick Speak and former Ryder Medallist and CV talent specialist, James Miller.

Current and former Victorian players Xavier Crone, Travis Dean and Jon Holland will also work with closely with the group.

Cricket Victoria male talent development manager Tom Evans said the squad was looking forward to the opportunities ahead.

“I’m excited for the U/19 emerging program to get underway, we look forward to developing these young athletes holistically over the coming season and challenging them to continually improve as cricketers and people.

“We’re thrilled for the opportunity to help strengthen their development alongside our Victorian Premier Clubs and having the players learn from some the quality coaches and staff we are lucky to have working right across Victoria’s cricket system.”

Local players Joshua Slater, Liam Biddiscombe, Tamar Holt and Xavier Grant all won selection in the U/17 age group.
