Peninsula Sharks to join Under 18 female comp in 2020

The Peninsula Sharks will combine players from Drysdale, Ocean Grove, Queenscliff, and Portarlington.

There was previously no option for players after Under 15 football other than going straight into the seniors. The Peninsula Sharks will bridge this gap.

Speaking to AFL Barwon, Drysdale female football co-ordinator Jennie Deckker said this side would help keep players involved.

“We regularly see participation numbers in this age group drop off considerably and we believe this team is a way of addressing that and keeping girls involved in the game they love.

“It’s such an exciting and unique initiative.”

The Peninsula Sharks will begin training at Memorial Oval in Ocean Grove. Home games will be shared between the four founding clubs.
