Players share stories and laughs about the past
LEOPOLD Football and Netball Club hosted its first event in its new redeveloped clubrooms at the weekend – a Past Players and Officials Day.
President Brendan Thompson described the day as a great catch-up, with about 80 past players attending to share their stories and laughs.
“It was so nice to finally have the facilities to cater for that many people,” Mr Thompson said.
“After the seniors game we also had players and supporters in here too – the room can handle 300 people and it was almost full.
“It was a really exciting day in regards to showing everyone our new clubhouse and it was very well received.”
Mr Thompson said “The Club” would be the new home for all of the Lions, including the football, netball and cricket clubs.
“It’s been an almighty journey full of highs and lows to get our clubhouse redevelopment finished,” he said.
Mr Thompson said the Past Players Days were launched four years ago and continue to grow.
