GEELONG’S Premier Women’s Firsts will face Dandenong at home this weekend, looking for their first win in the one-day competition.
The Cats had a bye last weekend and now face a challenge in the ladder-leading and undefeated Panthers.
After the first six weeks of the season were played in T20 format, Geelong have played just the one game in one-day format thanks to inclement weather rubbing out two of their fixtured clashes.
They failed to fire a shot against Carlton in Round 2, after being bowled out for just 115 in their chase for the Blues’ target score of 287. Sarah Burton took two wickets in the loss, and Annie Taylor top scored with 21 runs, but three ducks from the bottom order put the game too far out of reach.
Meanwhile, Dandenong needed just 27 overs to chase down Plenty Valley’s 140 runs in their Round 2 win, thanks to 78 runs from 78 balls from batter Isla Thomson.
Geelong’s Seconds will also take on Dandenong in a second versus third clash, with a win taking them to an impressive 6-1 in the season.
The second-placed Thirds will host the Panthers at Geelong Cricket Ground.
