Rettstatt signs with Storm to finalise Big V side
TIM Sanderson’s Big V Women’s side for 2024 is now complete, following the signing of the squad’s final import.
The Bellarine Storm welcomed six-foot-two forward Bridgette Rettstatt to the side last week, following two seasons in Greece at PAOK in Thessaloniki.
Rettstatt attended Liberty College in Lynchburg, Virginia for her collegiate career prior to her European debut, which Sanderson characterised as outstanding.
“Bridgette had an outstanding college career at Liberty,” the Storm head coach said.
“She will provide us with plenty of offensive firepower and a great commitment to defending.
“Her size and athleticism give us plenty of lineup flexibility to compete in a tough league this season.
“We believe she will be a fantastic addition and fit to what’s a stable roster for the upcoming season.”
Rettstatt concluded her time at Liberty as the side’s leading bench scorer (8.3 ppg) and rebounder (4.9 rpg) in her senior year.
She also ended her collegiate career 12th in the program’s history for rebounds (642) and 21st in points (875).
Rettstatt said she is ready to be an integral part of the Storm in its first year as a Championship division side.
“No task is too small to do for the team’s success, whether that is setting a great screen or crashing the boards.
“I enjoy creating offence through tough defence, and playing in a way that sets my teammates up for success.”
Rettstatt pairs up with now-teammate Courtney Strait as the two Bellarine import contracts for 2024.
