Round 6 to shake up BPCA1 ladder
ROUND 6 of BPCA1 looms as a league-shaping double weekend, with multiple clashes set to shake up the ladder.
The competition’s Round 5 day two action was abandoned last weekend due to inclement weather, with clubs turning their attention to Round 6.
Barwon Heads will look to remain undefeated as they host Jan Juc, who appeared to be saved by the rain last weekend.
The Sharks were bowled all out for just 119 by the struggling Queenscliff in day one and, barring a miracle, would have been handed their third loss of the season.
Meanwhile, Heads are yet to be seriously challenged so far this season in their pursuit to go one better than last season’s grand final loss.
Queenscliff will hope to continue a strong run of form after starting the season 0-3, when they host the second-placed Anglesea. Whilst last weekend’s rain worked against Queenscliff’s favour, the Roos faced a run target of 239 against Barwon Heads last weekend and may have been saved by the wet conditions.
Third-placed Drysdale will host fifth-placed Armstrong Creek, with the winner likely to be in the top four by the round’s conclusion.
Inverleigh will host Barrabool in a bottom of the ladder clash. The winner will move to 2-3 and remain in finals contention, while the loser will drop to 1-4 and sit well behind the rest of the competition as the season’s halfway point nears.
In BPCA2, Surf Coast will host St Leonards, Ocean Grove will host Winchelsea, Collendina will host Wallington and Portarlington will host Newcomb. Winchelsea sit atop the ladder at 4-1
