TWO of the region’s major sporting organisations will again partner for a summer netball tournament aimed at keeping players active during the off-season.
Geelong United Basketball and AFL Barwon will host the Geelong Barwon Netball Summer Cup on January 19, offering a short-format competition for local senior netballers.
The tournament is designed as an off-season option to help players maintain fitness and stay connected with the sport and features fast-paced matches in a condensed format.
AFL Barwon regional general manager, Lisa Patterson, said the initiative provided additional opportunities for athletes outside the regular season.
“This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to providing inclusive, high-quality participation opportunities in Geelong, while strengthening connections across different sports in our region,” she said.
Geelong United Basketball general manager of community, Emily Todorov, said the partnership between the two organisations extended beyond the competition.
“By working with AFL Barwon, we’re creating a platform that celebrates athleticism, teamwork and the incredible talent within our region,” she said.
Registrations are now open for teams across all age groups.
