THE Bellarine Storm have revealed United States player Bh’rea Griffin will be the import player in their Division 1 Women’s side ahead of the start of the 2023 Big V basketball season.

Griffin, a 5’7 guard who hails from Chicago, played for Glenville State College in NCAA 2.

The 26-year-old comes to the Storm after a stint with KBF-Prishtina in the Kosovo Superleague, and has also played in the Croatian WABA, Bosnian Division 1 in the German Bundesliga.

Storm Division 1 Women coach Tim Sanderson said Griffin “will bring a toughness and aggressive intent to our group” and that she “has the ability to get to the hoop, create for team-mates and make a shot”.

“Bh’rea is a competitor and her experience playing in Europe post-college will bring great experience to our group.”

The club says it is excited by what Griffin brings to the team and look forward to welcoming her to the region in the coming weeks.

This year’s Big V season starts next weekend, with Bellarine Division 1 Women playing away against Warrnambool at The Arc Sports Stadium on March 18. Tip-off is at 5.30pm.
