GEELONG Cricket Club star Callum Stow has been added to the Melbourne Renegades primary list for the coming Big Bash League (BBL) men’s season.
The 23-year-old spinner rejoins the Renegades on a one-year deal after impressing in his first taste of BBL action.
The left-arm spinner claimed his first wicket on debut and showed poise and control to pull an impressive two-wicket performance against the Brisbane Heat in the next game.
At club level, Stow has been a standout performer in Premier Cricket and only last year achieved a nine-wicket haul in a representative match at the Global Super League tournament in Guyana.
He hoped to continue building on his promising start to his career under the guidance of Renegades coach Cameron White.
“It’s an amazing feeling to be back with the Renegades for another season,” Stow said.
“Last season gave me a real taste of what this level is all about. I learnt so much from the group in such a short time and, with a summer with Victoria, I’m really hungry to build on that experience and keep improving.
“I can’t wait to get stuck into BBL15.”
Melbourne Renegades general manager James Rosengarten said Stow’s elevation to the primary list was richly deserved.
“Callum’s development over the past 12 months has been fantastic to see.
“He’s worked hard on his game, made the most of his opportunities, and shown he belongs at this level. We’re excited to see what he can produce with a full Big Bash campaign ahead of him.”
Stow will play in front of a home crowd in the Renegades’ first two matches of the BBL season, to be held at Geelong’s GMHBA Stadium on December 15 and December 21 respectively.
The women’s Renegades will be in action on Tuesday, October 21 against Brisbane Heat in Sydney as part of the T20 Spring Challenge.
